In my own community I keep hearing people say “We can’t live in fear forever.” And here’s the thing. vulnerable people have in fact been living in fear forever. Ask Uyghurs living in China, for example, if they live in fear of the Chinese authorities. Yes, they do. Will they do so for their whole life? Yes, they will. Because living in fear of the Chinese authorities is the way that they stay alive.
Yes, Many people deny the reality that from the moment we are conceived we are never safe. Some are sheltered or inexperienced enough to have never confronted that fact ~ until the day reality kicks them in the teeth. Far better to face the reality of many probable dangers and fearlessly make wise, sensible choices based upon real risks.

It's a gift, really, being so sheltered. But it is also a terrible shock to be faced with reality.
Yes, Ignorance is / can be Bliss. That is a brick wall that those who convey truth run into. Perhaps it is why those who lie are so easily accepted.
Also thinking of those who lie to themselves ~ one of the worst things to do.
